I installed an outside cam after a couple of incidence out here in the mountains.
I kept smelling cigarettes smoke close to my house at night time. I don’t smoke only my son in law does and he was in the hospital at the time.
The second incident was a little weird.
I had been watching all these reels about green laser lights that don’t burn through the color blue.
So that night I woke up at 4:00 in the morning seeing a green light moving around my bed very slowly.
Now I will admit I didn’t have my glasses on so this light looked more like a ball due to my astigmatism, ( I see 4 to six of one light close together.)
I jumped out of bed scared to death and knocked my computer off of the TV stand next to the bed.
With a loud crash I flipped the light on and the green ( seamed to be like one of those you see from a laser pen you play with the animals) light dissapeared.
A minute later I heard at least 2 car doors slam on the road close to my house.
There’s the spooky ghost story you can tell around the campfire although it wasn’t just a story.
After installing my out door cam and some motion sensor lights, I caught these disturbing images outside.
There were three lights moving around on the scene of my phone.
UFO?
The funny thing is that those lights were reflecting from my camera’s red light night view spot lights onto a spider web.
Enjoy another ghost story for tales around the campfire or under the covers with a flashlight.
Witches, goblins and one little strawberry filled the hall for our neighborhood trunk or treat.
With pot luck, there were 3 different chilis, hot dogs. 2 different coleslaw, corn bread, and chips and desserts gallore.
Children’s games and activities nestled in every corner. Chatter, gossip and good old fashioned reminiscence filled the air.
Everyone was so excited to be out of quarantine and ready to socialize that the neighborhood drowned in energy, anticipation and euphoria of freedom.
On the way home those cute demons flew numerous times past each trunk until their bags were too heavy to lift. Even the cute strawberry had her pumpkin overflowing.
I hope your parties will be as wonderful .
Venison Chili
(No measurements just ingredients.)
Ground venison browned with chopped bacon
Cooked and strained red kidney beans
Chopped tomatoes, onions, peppers, and 1 bay leaf
(Sweat chili: add catsup)
Chili powder, swest basil salt and pepper and the secret ingredient, cinnamon.
Top with grated cheese and a dollop of sour cream.
Water added then cook all day long. Umm, the smell alone keeps those monsters in check.
The cold set in quick here in N.C. leaves are falling all over the place.
I woke up and turned the heater on at 5:00 am and jumped back in bed. Brrr.
My thoughts turned to pumpkins and pumpkin pie and pumpkin shakes and pumpkins soup and landed on pumpkin cake.
Thought I would share the tools of my trade, haha. Anyway what I use to cook with.
When no one else is around to see what you usually cook with, you, or I can get away with anything.
My handy dandy mixing bowl doubles as a microwavable bowl but started out as a whipped topping container. I use it for just about everything. And the wisk is from my granddaughter’s play kitchen.
Shocking, I know.
And most of my foods are prepared in the microwave. Not all. But why power up the stove and oven when there is just one of me.
Pumpkin Cake
2 Tablespoons butter
1/3 cup of canned pumpkin (freeze the rest to use later)
2 Tablespoons greek yogurt
2 Tablespoons honey
2/3 cup almond flour
1 Tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
1/4 Teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 Teaspoon vanilla
2 Eggs
Melt the butter, in the microwave. Mix in the pumpkin, yogurt and honey.
Add the almond flour, spices, and vanilla. Mix well. Add the eggs and beat well. Should be a thick batter. If too thin, add more almond flour.
Zap in the microwave for 4 minutes or until center top looks dry.
Turn cake over onto plate and let cool.
Cream cheese frosting
1/4 cup cream cheese
2 Tablespoons butter
2 Tablespoons honey
Melt all together in the microwave for 1 minute. Take out and stir until creamy. Frost cake and top with a dusting of cinnamon.
I woke up to a chill autumn morning. The leaves are already starting to turn up here in the mountains of North Carolina.
I can’t believe the time has snuck by so fast.
Halloween is right around the corner.
I know it’s only September, but I have to get ready for Halloween ahead of time.
Bat Cat, as my daughter dubbed him, is finished. The kind of cat I don’t have to worry about getting cat scratch fever from. Lol
And just in time for Halloween.
With it being so cool this morning, I put on some hamburger to brown and I can smell the Autum soup steeping through the air.
Can’t wait to slurp up a hot bowl. And just think, I don’t have to share it with Bat Cat. Ha!
No recipe today. Everything is just stuff on hand with tomato paste and water base.
Lots of salt and pepper, onions and vegetables galore from the garden, and some sweet basil growing in my aqua garden. (And sometimes cans of vegetables. I cheat a lot in cooking.) It will be cooking all day.
Maybe you could join me for dinner with your favorite soup. I’ll be thinking about you as I spoon it up.
Summer has come and gone and I didn’t accomplish all that I wanted to. Worked on upgrading and redecorating the house and forgot all about writing for a while.
Actually, I got stuck on the cartoon drawings that I wanted to achieve.
I studied hard and drew a lot of different characters but couldn’t quite come up with the kind of drawings that I wanted for a comic series that I started. If you haven’t read the short story My things that I posted on this blog, then I hope you do, the comic takes off with Nick the rock hound. It’s Nick’s story down to the last gory detail, Gargoyles and all.
hopefully in the next couple of weeks I will have some of Nick’s finished pictures to add to this blog. Until then….
The leaves are starting to fall, the wind is howling, thunder strikes closer each second and the time draws near when goblins, ghosts and ghouls come out to play. Monster time.

The last email I receive in my in box from this thread will be contacted for address and I will send an autographed copy of one of my monster books, your choice.
I have spent this past week working on a commission for three light houses. 2 out of three done. One More to Go.
I have also been putting together another Monster Classic: A Monster Love Book.
I made a Monster Mistake, two of them! Beware Drinking while working on a lap top.
While Vacuuming the floor after three little monsters ransacked the house and smashed crackers into the carpet, One of the little monsters left a glass of juice on the arm of the chair where I was working as they gladly destroyed my house. They did have fun.
And it kept them quiet while I was working on my new book.
1st Mistake:
While Babysitting Grandkids, Don’t try to work!
2nd Mistake:
Don’t let anyone near a Laptop with a glass of juice or anything other kind of liquid.
Sizzle, sizzle, burn, CRASH!
The one good thing about it all is that I saved the book at least on paper. Now if I can only decipher my writing once again.
One other tidbit of information: Monster Classics Presents, The Night Before Halloween. Now Available in Paper edition through Amazon.com
One of these days I will learn BBS so that I don’t have to insert such a long link. Until then, Happy linking!
